Proyecto de la Movilización Comunitaria VIH/SIDA: Community HIV/AIDS Mobilization Project (CHAMP). Se a encomendado a un solidario acercamiento para la lucha en contra del VIH/SIDA. Estos boletines informativos proveerán de información adecuada a la problemática del VIH/SIDA que afecta a la gente en los Estados Unidos, y alrededor del mundo. También nosotros vamos a empezar a proveer conversaciones sobre cada una de las problemáticas anteriores, para impulsar discusiones sobre tópicos realmente difíciles de solucionaren en nuestras comunidades.

Latin America Tender Awarded to Intercambios Associatión Civil

In July 2007, IHRA released an invitation to tender for a partnership with harm reduction networks, associations and organisations in Latin America. We are pleased to announce that the tender has been awarded to Intercambios Associatión Civil - an Argentinean non-governmental organisation with extensive experience in harm reduction research and advocacy.

Conference Registration and Abstract Submission System Open

IHRA and the Conference Consortium are pleased to announce that the Harm Reduction 2008 registration and abstract submission system is now open. When you first access the system, you will be asked to create a new user account by completing your personal details and choosing a user name and password. Once you have created your user account, you will be able to update your details and submit an abstract for the conference. An ‘Abstract Guide’ has also been produced to assist authors in this process.

Special Journal Issue Free to Download

The International Journal of Drug Policy has just published a ‘Special Issue’ on HIV treatment and care for injecting drug users - guest edited by Andrew Ball from the World Health Organization, Michel Kazatchkine from the Global Fund, and Tim Rhodes from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. This ‘Special Issue’ brings together a range of original research papers and commentaries from around the world, and is available for free download until October 31 2007.

An Interview with the ‘Nigerian Friends for Harm Reduction’

The ‘Nigerian Friends for Harm Reduction’ (NFHR) have recently formed to advocate for harm reduction interventions and policies across the country. 'ARV 4 IDUs’: Free Quarterly Bulletin Launched

HIV i-Base are pleased to announce the launch of a free quarterly bulletin called ‘ARV4IDUs’. This not-for-profit community publication aims to provide a review of the most important medical advances relating to clinical management of HIV and its related conditions for injecting drug users, as well as access to treatments. The publication contains key articles relating to antiretroviral treatment for injecting drug – including a report from the IHRA conference in May 2007.

September 2007 Article of the Month

This month’s highlighted article is a critical review of anti-doping strategies in sport by Kayser et al. The paper discusses the ethical assumptions which are the basis of the global prohibitionist approach to performance-enhancing drugs in sport. According to the authors, this approach is expensive and may cause more harm than it reduces for elite, amateur or aspiring athletes.

De komende maand doen we een brede oproep naar iedereen die voorstander is van een wereldwijde hervorming van de drugswetgeving om samen te werken rond de organisatie van een evenement in Wenen in maart 2008, als de Commissie Verdovende Middelen van de Verenigde Naties daar bijeenkomt om de resultaten van de 10-jaren strategie te bespreken om het wereldwijde drugsprobleem uit te roeien dan wel aanzienlijk te verminderen. Het doel van dit evenement is de redenen te vinden waarom het drugsverbod wordt voortgezet ondanks het overweldigende bewijs dat het een totale mislukking is, alsmede om de economische, ecologische en politeke perspectieven in de verf te zetten van een koerswijziging naar een rationeel drugsbeleid.

Ook in September zal de tekst van een nieuwe ENCOD-flyer over het voorstel van de Cannabis Social Clubs vertaald en geprint worden. Deze flyers kunnen worden gebruikt door locale groepen om de vestiging van een Cannabis Social Club in hun stad of land te vestigen, als deel van de CSC campagne.

Bovendien zal ENCOD aanwezig zijn op de komende evenementen deze maand:

ENCOD heeft nog een bedrag van 10.000 euros nodig om ons werk in 2007 in goede omstandigheden verder te zetten. Als er leden zijn die dit jaar nog een extra donatie kunnen geven, zou dit zeer welkom zijn (zie de bankgegevens onderaan).

Anderen zouden een kleinschalige fondswervingsactie kunnen organiseren om het werk van zowel locale organisaties als ENCOD te steunen. Mensen kunnen in kleine groepjes samenkomen, voor een etentje, spel of sociale activiteit die geld opbrengt. Er zijn collectebussen beschikbaar die hiervoor gebruikt kunnen worden. Laat het weten als je er nodig hebt, of als je suggesties zou willen voor dit soort activiteiten.

Groepen in de UK en Spanje hebben al zaterdag 29 september uitgekozen, bij gelegenheid van het feit dat het op 28 september de 79^e verjaardag is van de Conventie van Genève, waarbij het verbod op cannabis werd ingevoerd. Maar deze datum is geen must.
